Description
STATIC SETTLING OF WASTEWATER
The process of decantation and clarification by sedimentation separates insoluble suspended particles from a liquid and is an essential operation in a wastewater or sewage treatment plant. Unlike filtration, which is carried out by means of a filter press, the SV-DEC vertical settling silos (decanters / clarifiers / sedimenters) are based on the principle of the natural precipitation of solids suspended in a liquid (static settling): during the process, solid particles precipitate to the bottom of the structure, while the purified water overflows from the top to be sent to the clear water tank. The inclination of the cone favors sedimentation and the sludge thus thickened at the base of the decanter is periodically extracted by means of an extractor pump.
